AGM & Biennial 2010
The first National AGM & Biennial CFPNA conference was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 6 , 2010. The conference theme was "Illuminating Horizons: Advancing Family Practice Nursing". There were 47 nurses registered for the inaugural event.
The Family Practice Nurses Association of Nova Scotia (FPNANS) hosted a pre-conference dinner cruise around the Halifax harbor.
Patsy Smith, Carol Todd and Marilyn Howlett, as out-going members of the CFPNA Executive, were thanked and presented with a certificate and small gift in appreciation for their volunteer work in launching the association.

Keynote Speaker, Bary Fry, with skill and humor she wove in the lighthouse, nautical theme as she spoke to the leadership issues in a constantly changing environment of primary care.

Denise Penny, MN, RN & Juliet Thornton, MScN, RN, introduced a patient as an infant and health screening measures to implement as the patient grew up. (power point)
Judith Manson, BScN, NCMP, provided some wit and humor to address the main issues that women deal with during menopause and how primary care nurses can help deal with this normal process.
Lisa Ashley, RN, CCHN (C), MEd, Ian Bower, BComm, MHA, Laurel Cooke, BES, BScN, RN & Sheilagh Callahan, RN, MScN presented interesting viewpoints and then participated in a panal discussion on both the challenges and opportunities for family practice/primary care nurses.
